Program Requirements

A. The school-based practicum experiences, completed during the second year of the program, must consist of at least 400 clock hours. Two separate school sites are required. An on-site certified school psychologist must provide two hours a week of individual supervision.

B. An original research project is required for graduation. The project is completed before the internship.

C. The school-based internship experience, completed during the third year of the program, must consist of at least 1,200 clock hours (35 hours a week for one school year, which is usually 36 weeks). All 1,200 clock hours must be completed in a school setting. An on-site certified school psychologist must provide two hours a week of individual supervision.

D. The PRAXIS-II exam must be taken, and scores submitted to the program, prior to graduation.

E. Upon completion of the program, you will be eligible for the New York State Initial School Psychologist Certificate (NYS Board of Education) and the National School Psychologist Certificate (NASP).
