Programs Requirements



Planning Documents:

These documents will provide candidates with a roadmap for successful completion. In addition to listing the requirements, you will find columns to log your grades and the semester you have/plan to take required courses towards earning your degree.

Certificate of Advanced Study (Initial Certification)
For those who do not hold a valid NYS Initial Teacher Certification in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics (grades 7-12) and are seeking a recommendation for the Initial Teacher Certificate.

Master of Education (Initial/Professional Certification)
For those who do not hold a valid NYS Initial Teacher Certificate in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics (grades 7-12) and are seeking the Master of Education as well as recommendation for the Initial Teacher Certificate in one of the above listed program areas (grades 7-12 with grades 5-6 extension). Completion of this master's degree may also lead to a recommendation for the Professional Teacher Certificate (grades 7-12) and the Professional Extension in the same content area (grades 5-6).

Master of Education (Professional Certification)
For those who hold a valid NYS Initial Teacher Certificate in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics (grades 7-12) and are seeking the Master of Education as well as recommendation for the Professional Teacher Certificate (grades 7-12) in the same content area as your valid NYS Initial Teacher Certificate. The Professional Extension (grades 5-6) in the same content area is an additional option.
