Undergraduate Minor in Education Leadership and Policy for Equity
The Education Leadership and Policy for Equity minor is designed for undergraduate students interested in critically exploring some of the most pressing issues facing education today. This minor offers coursework that will prepare undergraduate students for entry-level positions in educational leadership, policy, non-profits, and a variety of other organizations. The Education Leadership and Policy for Equity minor will help students develop a focused understanding of sociopolitical, cultural, and economic issues that affect equity in schools, colleges, and communities in today’s globalized society. This minor provides students the opportunity to study, through coursework and experiential learning, topics such as race, gender, and class inequality; poverty and homelessness; immigrant and refugee education; higher educational access; school-community partnerships; and violence prevention. Students who wish to pursue graduate studies in educational leadership, administration, or policy, or those interested in leadership and policy in related fields such as interdisciplinary studies, public administration, social work, women and gender studies, or urban studies should consider enrolling in this minor. Offered through the Graduate School of Education, classes are taught in a seminar format through multiple delivery styles including in-person, online, and in the field.
