School Business and Human Resource Administration, AGC

This 15 credit hour, online, advanced graduate certificate (AGC) program is primarily intended for current assistant principals, principals and district level administrators seeking to expand and deepen their knowledge and understanding of school business and human resource administration. The program may also be of interest to anyone who is considering applying to the UB Graduate School of Education (GSE) doctoral program in Education Administration.

Students enrolled in GSE master, certification, or doctoral programs, and other candidates possessing a master's degree in a related field may apply to this program.

Features of the program include:

  • Most courses are taught by full time faculty with extensive, school related, experience in human resources and/or school finance
  • Assignments are largely field based and highly practical
  • Students can apply what they learn to their present position or in preparation for a possible promotion
  • Assignments can be structured for students who are not employed in PreK-12 schools but may be interested in learning more about human resources, collective bargaining or school finance

This Advanced Certificate is currently not intended to be used as a pre-service program for individuals seeking New York State Education Department Certification. Individuals interested in pursuing certification as school leader (building/SBL, district/SDL, or school business/SDBL) are encouraged to apply to the Leadership Initiative For Tomorrow’s Schools (LIFTS) at the University at Buffalo.
