|Writing Intensive Reading Comprehension* (WIRC) is a project which uses
writing to improve reading comprehension in low-performing schools. In this research we are developing and testing
strategies presented in the form of thinksheets -- guides to reading, writing, and problem solving which teachers use
interactively with students -- to help fourth and fifth graders write about their reading.
