Ms. Gliset Colón has over 15 years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities. She has a Master’s degree in Bilingual Special Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Education both from Buffalo State College. Ms. Colón holds dual certification in both Special and Elementary Education from birth through sixth grade and also holds a bilingual extension both in New York State and Florida. She was a former educator of students with and without disabilities at the early childhood, primary and middle school levels. She has taught in public and non-for profit schools in the Western New York and Orlando areas. She also has experience working with adults with developmental disabilities in residential settings.
In addition to her doctoral studies, Gliset Colón serves as Assistant Project Director of the New York State Response to Intervention Technical Assistance Center. Additionally she teaches undergraduate and graduate level coursework involving teaching exceptional learners in the general education classroom. Her professional interests focus on effective literacy interventions for English language learners considered at-risk or mildly disabled.
