As a Special Educator for almost fifteen years I have worked in a variety of settings. I have taught grades 2-9 as a self-contained teacher and a co-teacher in inclusive settings. My love of exceptional learners and my enthusiasm for teaching in inclusive settings led me to share my passion with others. Currently, I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at The State University of New York at Fredonia teaching graduate and undergraduate courses with a focus on inclusive education. As a parent of a child with special needs, it gives me great pleasure preparing future teachers to educate students with diverse learning needs.
My current research interests include preparing pre-service teachers to work with students with diverse learning needs in authentic field based settings. There are few things that give me greater pleasure than watching pre-service teachers’ excitement when they realize their students are learning. This gives me great hope for the future of special education, as well as, general education.
