Ever wonder about alternative careers in Librarianship?  Let Rachel Singer Gordon tell you.  The Special Libraries Association Student Group at Buffalo (SLAB) will be hosting a guest speaker event featuring Rachel Singer Gordon to start Career Week.  This semester Career Week will focus on special librarianship.   The topic of the speaker event is Alternative Careers in Librarianship and Information Science.  A Q & A session will be held.
This event will be free for students and 2008 DLIS Alumni; $5 for non-students.
Tickets can be purchased with cash, check (made out to Upstate NY Chapter of SLA).  Receipts provided upon request.

What’s the Alternative?

Rachel Singer Gordon is webmaster, LISjobs.com, and consulting editor at Information Today Inc., Books Division.  She is the former head of computer services at the Franklin Park Public Library, IL, and currently works as a freelance writer, editor, and presenter.  Rachel has authored or edited eight books for librarians and information professionals, most recently What’s the Alternative: Career Options for Librarians and Info Pros (ITI, 2008).  Information Tomorrow: Reflections on the Future of Public and Academic Libraries (ITI, 2007) and The NextGen Librarian’s Survival Guide (ITI, 2006).
