These scholars are former doctoral students at the University at Buffalo (UB). Under the direction of NLG members, their dissertation have contributed to New Literacies Studies and our understanding of how multimodal learning transforms schools and teacher education. In their present academic positions, these scholars continue to contribute to the NLG research agenda, and more importantly, they extend it to other institutions.

Dr. Bailey is an assistant professor in Adolescence Education at Canisius College. She holds a Ph.D. in Reading Education from the University at Buffalo. Her dissertation, Designing Social Futures: Adolescent Literacy In and For New Times, examines the ways in which two teachers attempted to integrate New Literacies into their respective English 9 classrooms. Dr. Suzanne Borowicz is the Director of the Western New York Writing Project at Canisius College where she also teaches courses in multimodal literacies in the Adolescence Education program. She is a former graduate research assistant in the City Voices, City Visions program. She is co-founder of the CEE Commission on Arts and Literacies.
