Call for Nominations: UB GSE Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) for School Improvement Award
The University at Buffalo (UB) Graduate School of Education (GSE) is pleased to announce an Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) Award that will be presented to one school from the Western New York area in Spring 2017. The application deadline is Feb. 17, 2017.

IPC is a school-based model that utilizes collaboration among teachers, administrators, counselors and/or other school professionals to improve student outcomes. Students who benefited from IPC may include the school’s entire student body or a subset of students who attend the school. Examples of student outcomes that may have improved as a result of IPC include:
- Academic achievement
- English language proficiency
- Health, wellness, and/or fitness
- Social/emotional well being
The award will include a public recognition ceremony at the GSE Spring 2017 Student Research Symposium, where the winning team will share their story with graduate students, faculty, and invited guests. The session will be recorded and later used as an exemplar of IPC in courses throughout GSE.
The winning team will also receive tuition scholarships for 12 one-credit hour professional development courses offered through UB/GSE (valid for course offerings between Fall 2017 and Fall 2018). In lieu of the tuition scholarships, the winning team may request a professional development program designed and delivered by GSE faculty to meet a specific, school-based need. Such requests will be considered based on GSE faculty expertise and availability.
As a condition for receiving the award, the winner agrees to provide an opportunity for UB faculty to conduct research on site. The purpose of this research will be focused on one or more of the following:
- strengthening UB’s commitment to PreK-12 educational partnerships
- strengthening UB’s reputation as a research institution
- improving GSE curriculum pertaining to IPC
The application deadline for this award is February 17, 2017. In the application, you will be asked to describe your team and to provide evidence which supports the assertion that IPC has had an impact on student outcomes.
