Dr. Greg Dimitriadis Receives Outstanding Book Award

Greg DimitriadisDr. Greg Dimitriadis, professor from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy, has been selected to receive the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division B Outstanding Book Award for 2012 for his book Critical Dispositions: Evidence and Expertise in Education.

Set against the current proliferation of global “difference” and economic realignment, Critical Dispositions explores the notions of “evidence” and “expertise” in times of material scarcity. Both have come to the forefront of national and international debate in education as “evidence” and “evidence-based” research and pedagogical practices continue as major trends in educational policy.

The book award committee chair said, “We received many nominations, and this year only two books were selected for the award, so it’s a very high honor. The book award committee was unanimous and enthusiastic about the outstanding quality of your book.” The award was presented at the Division B business meeting in San Francisco during the 2013 AERA conference.
