The UB LIS Department is committed to being an active participant in the local community by offering its expertise and staff to support efforts ongoing in the Buffalo area. The community projects we support range from establishing and maintianing libraries to providing input on policy decisions. The UB LIS Department is in a unique position to aid groups in a variety of ways, including:
  • student and staff volunteer support
  • technical support
  • research and education
  • information/knowledge management
We serve with the express goal of helping the organization succeed and achieve its goals and fullest potential.

Intended Role

The guiding principle we use to define our role is simple: We are here to serve!.
  • We strive to take on the specific role, under the guidance of the organization, to meet the specific need in order to advance the goals of the project.
  • Research is only undertaken if it supports the mission, goals, and needs of the organization
  • Be a resource of volunteers
