Biography:

Herbert L. Foster is a teacher, writer, researcher, and educational consultant. Born in the Bronx, he grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from the New School of Printing - a New York City vocational high school. After serving with the U.S. Army in the occupation of Japan, he received his B.S. and M.A. from New York University, School of Education, and his Ed.D. from Columbia University, Teachers College.

Dr. Foster is an Emeritus Professor, Department of Learning & Instruction, Graduate School of Education, State University of New York at Buffalo. He had a 28 1/2 year tenure with SUNY/Buffalo. Before becoming a professor, he was a teacher and administrator in the New York City Public Schools for 17 years. Of those 17 years, sixteen years were spent in the New York City "600" Schools for emotionally disturbed and socially maladjusted adolescents. He has been with the Boy Scout movement for 60+ years and is now a merit badge counselor. For 3 1/2 years, host of Inside Education a weekly radio educational interview program on WBFO FM, Buffalo, NY.
