How does the scholarship work?

Tuition assistance (scholarship) that will cover half the cost of tuition and fees (approximately $309.73*) for the 1 credit hour courses is available for fall 2017 at the in-state tuition level, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Students who are NYS residents and receive this partial scholarship will be charged for 1 credit of tuition and fees (at the in-state tuition rate) in the HUB Student Center. GSE will transfer the scholarship amount (at the in-state tuition rate) to your account through UB’s Student Accounts office. It will then be reflected on your bill and the amount of the scholarship will be credited to your account sometime towards the middle or end of the semester. Once this is completed you will see the credit on your account through the HUB Student Center accessed through MyUB. You will then be responsible for paying the remainder of the bill for this course (approximately $309.73*). Please note that you will need to make on time payments to avoid incurred late fees.

Students who are not NYS residents and receive a scholarship will be charged for 1 credit of tuition and fees (at the out-of-state tuition rate) in the HUB Student Center. GSE will transfer the scholarship amount (at the in-state tuition rate) to your account through UB’s Student Accounts office. It will then be reflected on your bill and the amount of the scholarship will be credited to your account sometime towards the middle or end of the semester. Once this is completed you will see the credit on your account through the HUB Student Center accessed through MyUB and you will be responsible for paying the remaining amount (difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition and fees for one credit hour).

Please note that current UB students and UB employees are not eligible for this partial scholarship. A link to the UB Human Resources website is provided below as some UB employees may be eligible for UUP tuition assistance.

*Amount subject to change reflective of change in tuition and fee prices.

Student Responsiblity - Financial Liability

SUNY Policy states "When you register, you assume responsibility for paying all tuition and fees associated with your registration. You must pay even if you did not attend a single class unless you have dropped or resigned your courses according to the published deadlines."

The last day to drop a course without financial liability is Tuesday, September 5, 2017.
