Healthy development depends on healthy relationships. Recent research is showing that the quality of relationships in which children grow up shapes not only their behaviors and attitudes, but also their brain development and their genes. Healthy relationships are important in all the places where children live, learn, play, and work—in the family, school, peer group, and neighborhood.

In this presentation, we will explore critical strategies for promoting healthy relationships and healthy development for children and youth including: adults' self-awareness, building rapport with children and youth, scaffolding or coaching, social architecture, and systems change.
